I'd take Jbo, but not at the whole we want to move up so we are trading Jbo price.

Gagner for the 8th is an interesting one, and one I think they wait until Carolina's pick is up at the podium. Need to see who is left.

I have always liked JayBo, and always hated Calgary for getting him, I definitely wouldn't mind him on our blue line. As for Gagner for the 8th overall, i kind of see that as a step backwards. I mean yes it really does depend on who is available, but i don't think any center we draft there, either gally or grigs, will put up the numbers gagner will this season (40-50). Yes theres a chance both of them have higher potential that gagner, i just dunno though, and if we did that for a dman, then we have a hole at our 2nd line center which id rather not be filled with horcoff.

Canes director ofo amateur scouting Tony MacDonald called Teuvo Teravainen the next Patrick Kane today in an interview.

They aren't trading someone they think that highly of for a 40 point Center.

If the pressure is on the Oilers to immediately improve, dealing Gagner for an 8th overall pick is definitely a step backwards. For at least a season, if not two or three.

I also heard today Teravainen will be taken in the Top 5, so you won't have to worry about the Canes taking him.

If T.T was the next Patrick Kane Hed be going top 2 in this draft....

That would mean youd be 6 picks away from getting him.

Maybe they see Gagner as pre-concussion Savard

I can't see Galchenyuk getting past 3rd let alone to the 8th. He is the guy who Timmins really wants and if Columbus pass he will be a Hab

Grigorenko goes 4th-6th. Don't see him going any farther then that. Work ethic may be in question but his talent isn't and could be the steal of the draft in a few years.

I see Reinhart being there at 8 which will likely being the guy who Edmonton is going for and will be a great pick up

If Teravainen goes top-5 then Grigorenko drops to 8. Even better for the Canes.

Reports also say Rutherford not willing to give up 8th Overall for J. Staal. Again, doubtful they value Gagner higher.

Remember that time Horcoff had pretty much the hardest assignment of any player in the league in terms of qualcomp and zonestart? Oh, yeah, it was this year. Horcoff gets a bum rap, and we're not a team that can toy around with centre depth.

As for Gagner, well I'd be real sad to see him go, but if the Oilers are legitimately interested in taking Reinhart 1st and he can be had at 8th, then maybe that's a good move for them.

As for Grigorenko, well he looks like he's going to be more one-dimensional than Gagner, and while he'll probably be a better offensive talent, he doesn't solve any problems in the search for a Jordan Staal type 2nd line centre.

It would probably to save cap on the Eb and hall deals.

But its definitely a step backwards if we do that.

Read a few times now that he is top 3 potential but will probably slip to 5-6.

Some guys see something a lot of scouts dont I guess

Word from the Pens thread is that it's a bigger package the Canes have offered for Staal (Faulk + Sutter + 8th for Staal and Martin). Looked a little stacked to me.

Mm, MAYBE, though i don't think Gagner is breaking the bank. When Hall and Ebs contracts are done capgeek says we will have $49M in space. Yes i realize we will sign other people and such, im just not worried about cap space.

I heard this morning a scout (forget the name, but it was on Team 1260...or was it on Oilers Now?...I have a cold, so my brain isn't all here) say Teuvo could go as high as #3, and that he has a skill level on par with Yakupov. Apparently he and Griffin Reinhart are the big risers.

The only way I trade Gagner is if Grigs is available at 8.

Save 3 years on contracts and Grigs could probably put up 30-40 points in his first year and eventually progress into a better player.

Its obviously a huge risk though.

Trading Gagner for a pick to use on anything other than a second line centre just moves the hole in our roster. Gagner+ for a bigger centre would please me far more than any of the centres around at the 8th pick.

Or we could give gagner a season playing with one of our young all-star wingers. I see a lot less gagner hate after this season.

One center who would be available at 8th is Faska, but i just dont think trading gagner for faska is a good idea.

That is the issue though, who would trade Gagner for Grigorenko straight up? Not the Canes, they are a budget team and would relish the $$ saving for the equal if not better player.

Who would fill Gagners spot if we traded him for the 8th and drafted Reinhart?
